When I looked over the pictures that I had taken it became obvious that they spanned the Winter and the Spring, here. You will start by seeing views of Iowa in the Wintertime, which was light this year. You will end in Summer. From White and Gold to many shades of Green.

A Beaver House on one of hundreds of ponds here in Iowa. I suspect a Beaver here, because Muskrats do not build houses this big in Iowa, and there have been Muskrats here for a long time without building houses.

Up on an elevation, passing a small cattle ranch.

I take pictures like these to show distance and what I call 'The View From The Horizon Stone'. A picture like this can be very important to some viewers -- and -- you must remember that I have to consider many millions of people as potential viewers. Most of which have no clue.

Hence, I deliberately show pictures like this. Visibility is limited in these conditions.

I kept a lot of these pictures for another reason as well. They will make someone some very good desktop backgrounds; which has become an art form these days. In fact, I have included pictures that have only small sections in focus, because the overall picture will make a fine background.

This is a 'feelings' picture. It is very cold out there.

Think 'Mobility'.

This was taken in Webster City, showing their water tower and the sunset and the Boone river.

I was in Humboldt County at night and I saw a good shot of the Moon and some planets. I wanted the ground lights as well, so I had to overexpose the Moon to get them.

Hamilton County. You will notice the lack of snow. At this point in the winter the heat had increased considerably, causing flooding and bare ground. It was not to stay that way.

Now, northern Wright County going north.

A pond that is a tourist trap in the summertime, but when those bloats are gone it is very pleasant.

This is enhanced by me, to show what I saw was a potential view.

Up on the border of Wright and Hancock Counties. I never drive in a systematic way when taking pictures, because I have to go where the views are happening; which often means I have to move about randomly.

Pictures like this are obvious backgrounds. Besides, a lot of winter forest scenes look like this.

A branch of the Iowa River near Belmond.

Inside Eagle Grove, just by chance.

68 to 86 are taken at a lake in Wright County. They also show why it is so important to keep out the hideous ButtUgly Windmills.

As long as anything is in focus and the overall picture will make art, I include it.

In this case, nothing is in focus and it makes better art that way. This is entering the realm of photographic art.

Driving in the Beaver Creek Valley looking for signs of BUWI activity. Which is like looking for Bubonic Plague. In this picture you can see how awful the BUWIs really are. This looks like the War of the Worlds, with an army of alien machines attacking a Human settlement. So far, this is the extreme eastern end of the BUWI scourge in this valley, but those scum want to kill it all!

Going eastwards. This is how the valley is supposed to look. But Human Virtues and Human Values mean NOTHING to the twisted politics pigs on the Utility Boards.

Same day, same area. This shows how tracks of weather can change counties. One side can be dry and warm, the other can still be snow covered and cold.

On the border of Butler and Grundy Counties. A target of the BUWIs.

Later, in Spring. I got a Red Tail to fly over my head and do some acrobatics, up in Hancock County. 96 to 113 are all at the same place in Hancock County. They are all daytime pictures.

Once again I have to mention that these pictures are for a wide assortment of people, some of which have never seen such sights as this before.

Going home from Hancock County.

Later again, after the last snow melt and the trees have had time to grow green. The 'Green' comes fast here in Iowa, undoubtedly a trait brought on by many years of these species living in Iowa. 121 to 127 are inside a forest inside Wright County. This one shows a caterpillar that came floating down from the trees over my head on a single strand, going to ground.

The Iowa River again, near Belmond.

Another 'Horizon Stone' shot. This shows how deceptive the views can be here in Iowa. This looks like it is a study of emptiness and far away islands. Nothing could be further from the Truth. Nature fills all voids. The remainder of these pictures were taken near these islands.

An ideal pond with ideal light and ideal friends.

I have included nine closeups of the pond surface. Excellent backgrounds.

I am using this one as a desktop background right now -- on the 'fit' setting. It works very well.

Back to where we started from. This is the same Beaver Hut in Summer, with a grand view.

I have more pictures to show, but they would not fit into this episode. I will save them for next time.

****A Technical Point****

These picture were shot in 4K. If you want to use them as backgrounds for a computer that has a 2K screen (1920x1080) there is a way to make them look sharper -- on those screens.

1. Select the picture that you want. Open it is Windows Paint. Every Windows has a 'Paint' program.

2. See the picture in windows. This can be achieved in File Manager by choosing edit for that file, which opens it in Paint.

3. If it is not in .bmp (these are not) re-save it first as a .bmp file. Use the Pictures directory to save it into.

4. Go to 'Home', the home section. Along the top banner you will see 'resize'. Select resize and a new window will pop up. It will be labeled 'resize and skew'. Choose 'pixels' instead of 'percentage'.

5. Important -- the box that says 'maintain aspect ratio' must be checked.

6. Type in 1920 for horizontal and do not change the vertical number. It will change on its own.

7. Hit 'Okay'. The picture will be shrunk down to 1920x####, which will be sharper on a screen of 1920x1080 resolution.

8. Save the picture as a .bmp file with a new name, or put '1920' on the end. This will not destroy the original file.

You can do this with any picture that is larger than 1920x1080. In Windows you can find the resolution of a picture by going to the 'properties' of the file and selecting the 'details' tab. However, avoid re-saving as .jpg files. Each time you re-save a .jpg file resolution is lost, but the programs will not tell you that. Make any .jpg file a .bmp file first -- in Paint. (Save As -- BMP picture).

Likewise, if you want to modify these pictures (colors and contrast etc), put them into Paint first as .jpg and then save them as .bmp. Then you can modify the .bmp versions, but do not re-save them as .jpg because you probably do not have the programs to do that without losing resolution.
