I know someone out there will say that there are more customers inside the Fort Dodge Walmart at any one time than people who live in Wright County -- so no one from here can understand what is happening there. Well, that is just not true -- on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
----------
For no particular reason, other than for something to do, I went to the Fort Dodge Walmart last Saturday. I got a few items which did not take long to gather, but then I walked around the store twice looking at the customers. There was something about them that was astounding. Only 11% were wearing masks. The other 89% acted as though there was no such thing as Covid-19 and Omicron.
Obviously they truly believed that an immunized person cannot catch a virus. I could not believe my eyes. In case you doubt this, I was the guy wearing the big red snow cap and white mask, staring at everyone. It is a KN95 mask by the way. Far better than those cheap blue jobs.
Now, maybe they know something that I do not know. That is doubtful, but possible. Let us look at something that I know -- that they may not know.
----------
Look at how close Fort Dodge is to the 'Main Blob' of Covid cases. In terms of transportation, Fort Dodge is right on the border of the slaughterhouse.
1478 new cases in Webster County (Fort Dodge) for the week ending 01-22-2022.
These are seven day new case averages.
Positive test results are increasing everywhere in Iowa.
An excerpt from the Iowa Capital Dispatch about this.
----------
AND -- everyone in this part of the country still has 'Covid-19' on their brains. They obviously do not realize that the Delta and Omicron variants are much worse and more communicable. What I saw last Saturday in the Walmart at Fort Dodge was a 'Virus's Delight!'. Hundreds of ready and willing victims without protection.
I understand that everyone is tired of wearing masks -- but this danger is so small and so dangerous that it can ride into town on a snowflake and kill a dozen people before you even know it is there.
